#67 Southernmost point of Europe*

February 6th, 2022: Tarifa

F. After a beautiful sunny day in Gibraltar, we headed to Tarifa the next day. This is the southernmost city on the mainland of Europe and also one of the windiest places in Spain. The wind was only about 30-40 km/h during our visit. Nonetheless, that was enough for many kite surfers and windsurfers to have a lot of fun in the sea. In Tarifa, the Mediterranean Sea meets the Atlantic Ocean, so there is an inland sea on one side and an ocean on the other. However, all the water sports enthusiasts were found on the ocean, which may have been due to the direction of the wind.

Otherwise, Tarifa is a small, rather sleepy town (at least currently in the off-season), from where a few ferries go to Morocco and there are many campsites in the surrounding area.

Day 114 – Total tour 7,266 km
