Von Boston nach Freeport

Апублікавана: 11.07.2016

Our two-legged alarm clock named Aaron rang at half past four, the night was finally over at seven and the suitcases were packed. I went to the deli shop around the corner for breakfast around nine and walked through empty streets. At first I was afraid that the apocalypse had started and zombies would come around the corner the next moment, but it seems that the people of Boston just like to sleep in on Sundays.

After a hearty breakfast, we took a taxi to the airport to pick up the booked Chevy Tahoe. But there was a disappointment: Chevy was out, we had to settle for Toyota. A rice bowl!!! In the land of Ford, Chevrolet, and GMC!!! But since a specific vehicle class is booked, not a specific vehicle, protests were futile.

In the parking garage, the disappointment disappeared and enthusiasm spread. The rice bowl was a Toyota Sequia with a V8 engine and 5.7 liters displacement! The interior is so spacious that I have to call Nicole on the phone to talk to her while driving. The car is also equipped with a trailer hitch to tow the fuel tanker...

The drive through the coastal towns of Massachusetts and New Hampshire was in drizzling rain. The towns themselves were completely crowded and could only be crossed in stop-and-go traffic. After the beautiful town of Ogunquit, we lost our nerves and drove on the interstate towards Freeport, our next destination.

We briefly stopped at the booked Holiday in Express and then headed to the cathedral of consumerism, the outlet town of Freeport. The whole town consists of outlet shops of various brands, from Tommy Hilfiger to L.L.Bean to Northface.

Everywhere you can see happy, smiling girls and women followed by heavily laden, depressed men. The smell of burnt plastic hangs over the town, created when credit cards are quickly swiped through the cash registers.

Of course, we adapted to the local customs (You know: when in Rome, do as the Romans do) and shopped heavily.

Here we also received the news that the FC Ronaldo district league kickers have become European champions. Cheers to European soccer!

We will have to digest this news tonight...
