This day was a travel day. We drove all day until we arrived in Chos Malal in the afternoon. We went straight to the tourist information office. Unfortunately, it was closed because it was Sunday. We were not aware of that beforehand. Luckily, they had pinned a list of accommodations on the door.
After a relatively short time, we found an apartment where we could stay. But before that, we saw some really creepy accommodations: one was dark like a hole, dirty, and smelly. I wonder who would want to stay in such an apartment.
Fortunately, we found a hostel with a shared kitchen. Our bedroom was on the first floor, and the toilet was below. That was quite interesting for a change.
If we don't have nice accommodations, we try to make the most of the day and only use the accommodation for sleeping. Luckily, this has worked out quite well so far.
After unloading our luggage, we went to the riverbank to eat. There was a beautifully designed meadow with many benches and tables. Next to it were many food trucks. To lift our spirits, we started with a 1/4 kilo of ice cream. The ice cream was really delicious. Gradually, the other food trucks also opened, and we enjoyed the advantages of Argentine fast food: Panchos (the Argentine version of hot dogs) and fries with ground beef and melted cheese.
At the beer stand, as it could not be otherwise, we also met some Germans. The couple came from near Frankfurt and, like us, took a sabbatical year, although without their adult children.
We talked to them all evening and exchanged interesting tips and travel ideas. After that, we slept well on our quite worn-out mattresses.
