Everyone felt quite fit again today, so we took the public bus to Stanley Park and visited the aquarium. From sea lions to dolphins, all kinds of fish and frogs, funny sea otters, a sloth, penguins and lots of interesting information about the ocean could be seen and learned here. We even visited a 4D film about sharks...
Close to the aquarium, there was a group of totem poles that we naturally also visited. From the Seawall Promenade, we had a nice view of the city and the harbor. In addition to the pedestrians, there were many cyclists, rollerbladers, and joggers in the park. We then walked down Denman Street to English Bay on the other side of the peninsula. In the evening, the Celebration of Light took place here. This means that a big fireworks display was ignited. The beach was already crowded with people shortly before six o'clock.
First, we went back to the apartment. For this, we had to walk down half of downtown and cross the long Granville Bridge. After eating, Berni and I (the girls couldn't motivate themselves anymore 😏) went to Vanier Park. This is located opposite English Bay and can be reached by us in 15-20 minutes.
There were also many spectators on this side of the bay, who were already sitting in camping chairs or on picnic blankets in the park. The fireworks display lasted almost half an hour. The loud bangs echoed for a long time. When the whole spectacle was over, a whole invasion of motorboats returned to the harbor 😝.
But we still got to see our August 1st fireworks! 🌃🎆
Statistics: 24,500 steps, 18 km 😅
