The last day in the Orient

Апублікавана: 26.07.2018

For a change, the alarm clock only rang at 10 o'clock today. Because of the desert tour yesterday evening and the excitement of having to reschedule and rebook almost our entire trip, we didn't go to bed until half past 1.

Because our original plan was to spend one night in Sanur and then continue by boat to Nusa Lembongan. However, since the sea is so rough that the boats can no longer operate, we had to change our plans. Now we are staying four days in Sanur and then flying to Lombok (fortunately the flight only takes 30 minutes) to visit my cousin and her family on Gili Air. After another five days, we will continue together to Senggigi. I was very sad that we had to reschedule and change our trip, but I am now very happy with the new tour. Thanks to Booking.com, we don't have to bear any costs, because we were able to cancel all the homestays that we are no longer visiting free of charge.

But now back to today, because today is our last day in Dubai. I am glad that we are going to Bali tomorrow. Because I am beginning to realize more and more that the big city is fascinating, but I feel much more comfortable in smaller, quieter places. In Dubai, you can apparently make every imaginable dream come true, except one: sitting comfortably outside, listening to street musicians, or walking through small cute alleys. I miss that very much and that's why I am looking forward to tomorrow, when we will finally be in Bali.

But now let's enjoy our last day in Dubai. Our plane doesn't leave until 01:25 a.m., so we still have plenty of time to see more of Dubai. After breakfast, we first spent an hour by the pool. There we enjoyed the sun and discussed the rest of the day.

First, we went to a big outlet center, right around the corner, and then we took a taxi to the Dubai Mall. There we treated ourselves to another burger at "Five Guys". These burgers are just so delicious, fresh and juicy. After we had fortified ourselves, we wanted to avoid the midday sun, which was almost 44 degrees, and strolled through a few shops in the largest mall in the world. There are really great things to buy here and everything you can imagine. But our wallets remained closed. After the midday sun no longer pressed too hard, we strolled around the area a little bit to watch the big, world-famous fountain show in front of the tallest building in the world in the evening (6 p.m.). With great expectations, we found a nice spot to watch the water show. Unfortunately, it was much less spectacular than we expected. Arabic music was playing and the fountains shot up into the air for about 3 minutes, that was all there was to see. A little disappointed, but still happy, we went back to the hotel because we felt like swimming again.

Then we packed our suitcase and at 10 p.m. we went to the airport. I am especially looking forward to sleeping and hope that I can make the total of 9 hours and 10 minutes go by.

Until next time, this time already from Bali.
