Koh Samui & Chumphon

Апублікавана: 16.03.2019

Actually, we wanted to skip Koh Samui, but we had to extend our visa and because it can be done there, we decided to include the island in our route.

Our accommodation was right by the night market at the port. We found a lot of traffic and dusty air to our disadvantage. But we planned to explore the island by scooter, which motivated us.

The first night was so-so, as there was a festival happening right in front of our door at the night market, where primarily Thai music was playing. That meant it was pretty loud in the room until one o'clock. Apart from that, the performances were quite amusing, as the dancers suddenly made weird sexual movements out of nowhere and we had no idea what the performances were about. Well... in any case, we visited different beaches the next two days and went to a pretty beautiful waterfall.

On the last day, we visited an impressive temple. There was a huge Buddha statue (as you can see in the pictures).

After the trip, we headed to the north of Thailand with a stopover in a province called Chumphon. There, we spent two nights for incredibly little money. The city is rather non-touristy, which was also pleasant for a change. We were at the night market every evening and even treated ourselves to a fish skewer, us being vegetarians :D We also visited the national park in Chumphon. Filled with joy for the hiking day, we arrived at the entrance and saw on the map that the trail through the park was only 900 meters long. We couldn't stop laughing and they still wanted an entrance fee for it. "Never mind," we thought and went in. There were mangroves everywhere, it looked super cool there!

The next day, we continued by train.

Oh, and we successfully extended our visa in Koh Samui.
