When we arrived at Berlin airport, everything went smoothly and smoothly. The security staff was impressed with our plans and wished us good luck and a great time. So now all we had to do was wait a little bit until we could board our plane to Amsterdam in the dark.
The flight was quiet and thanks to the tiredness that was slowly creeping back in on us, we hardly noticed anything. We landed again and with enough time made our way to our connecting flight to Cartagena, Colombia. We even had time for a small breakfast before a huge plane waited for us in the morning sunshine. I felt excitement building up, it felt a bit like being at the mini playback show waiting to finally step through the glitter ball. Not that I had ever experienced that. But that's pretty much how I imagine it and it's unbelievable that you get into a means of transport and exist in a space between two worlds until the machine spits you out again in a completely different place. So we climbed into this huge magic ball, with the certainty that nothing would be the same afterwards. Our flight was long and we could only imagine the world below us. We slept, ate and took advantage of the airline's media offerings. For the children it was “Tom and Jerry” on a continuous loop. For Márton and me, that we could finally look at the trash that the other person couldn't stand. So Márton had fun with an alien carnage flick and I was able to watch "Fast and the Furious" again for over 20 years, even if it wasn't the film of my youth, but some of the successors, which I don't know exactly noticed and probably doesn't matter, acted. And at some point, after about 12 hours, it really said: “Please fasten your seatbelts, we are on the landing approach.” Since our plane made a stopover in Bogotá, it meant a short grace period for us. We got out, walked through the airport and then got back on the same plane. The same crew welcomed us for the second time, it was really unbelievable what these people achieved. A short flight later we actually landed in Cartagena and we were finally there. Tired, we waited for our luggage and a taxi. János fell asleep on the way to our first accommodation. It was already after 4 p.m. local time and so it was pretty late at home. We were all so happy when we were finally in the hotel room and could each lie down in our own bed. Unfortunately the safe was broken, but that could wait. Márton got us empanadas at some point. There was no desire or strength for more. Sleep, that sounded like too nice a plan.
