Waternish Peninsula

Waternish is a beautiful peninsula on Skye and not yet overrun by tourists. First we drove to the Fairy Bridge, the place where the fairy princess had to leave her husband forever. She only returned once to rock her crying baby to sleep and wrap it in a shawl. The piece of fabric that nowadays hangs as the Fairy Flag in Dunvegan Castle.

After that, a long-awaited visit to Skyeskyns was on Mattis' list. A tannery that makes Mattis' beloved slippers. Another visit to the ruins of Trumpan Church, a monument to a bloody massacre in Scottish history, and then we ate at the Stein Inn, Skye's oldest pub. The Stein Inn has been continuously operating as a pub since the 16th century.
