Now it's already our last days in Peru. Before we have to go back to Lima to the airport, we will stay 2 more days in Ica. From Cusco, you can reach the city by bus in 17 hours. We got ourselves a ticket for the night bus VIP class, and it's really a premium equipment - wide leather seats with 160-degree recline and footrest (looks something like the business class in an airplane)! But well, we also want to sleep here. We will arrive at 7 o'clock in the morning. In our hostel, we can already check in at 8 o'clock and even get free breakfast. It feels like we are in a small Arabian city, in the background you can already see sand dunes. And that's where we'll go in the afternoon. To Huacachina - the oasis in the middle of the sand dunes, only a few minutes drive from Ica. The oasis is quite nice, but unfortunately the place is a bit run down. Some hotels and restaurants line up next to each other, but there is nothing else here. On site, we book a 2-hour buggy tour of the dunes. It starts at 4:30 and we are put into a somewhat rickety vehicle, fasten our seat belts, rev up the engine, and off we go. When we reach the first hill, we are amazed at how big this desert is. You can see nothing but sand! We zoom over the sand much faster than we thought. Up, down, we are shaken and have to be careful not to lose anything. Sand is flying around, but it's incredibly fun. Then we stop to do sandboarding; no one dares to stand on the board yet, but you can lie on it and zoom down the hill one by one, which is also super funny. Then we continue in zigzags to the Sunset Point! Drive around a bit more until we are back. This tour is simply incredibly awesome.
