German 🇩🇪🇩🇪🇩🇪:
And so I welcome you to our second travel report about our USA adventure.
Today is the 5th of October 2022 - The anticipation has reached its peak, the suitcases are packed, and we can't wait for tomorrow's flight. However, the first major problem arises before the actual trip. Our first flight to Amsterdam has been canceled without a replacement. There is a big mess the night before the flight, and everyone is upset because we have to find a new way to get to our host families in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. So, for now, we are fully prepared to leave and without a flight home. So the original plan to meet at the school at 6:00 am and drive from there to Berlin had to be changed slightly.
For now, it has been decided to postpone the departure from 6:00 am to 8:00 am, and we will drive to Berlin Airport on a lucky note.
After Plan B was successfully implemented the next day, which means that we managed to reach Berlin after about two hours of driving in car pools, we first made a new plan at the airport to reach our destination. So, the plan was to take the flight from Amsterdam to the USA one day later in the morning, after flying from Berlin via Vienna to Amsterdam. The fact that it wouldn't be our day was confirmed when we had to wait another hour at check-in because instead of 22 flights, only two were booked, and another time when the flight from Vienna to Amsterdam was delayed by half an hour because they had to wait for us. However, it got better over time. During the time we had to wait for our flight from Amsterdam to Minneapolis, the airline gave us a hotel and pizza as a gift. We arrived in the late evening around 10:00, the pizza was delivered about an hour later, and it didn't take long for us to fall asleep.
So, we say goodbye for today, hoping that tomorrow everything will go smoothly with the long-haul flight to the USA.
I hope you had a little smile on your face while reading our blog about the ultimately somewhat bumpy start of the exchange program, and I hope you will continue to read our upcoming travel reports with excitement.

So, for the time being, we are in full departure mode and home without a flight. So the original plan to meet at the school at 6:00 am and drive from Köthen to Berlin had to be changed a little bit. It was decided that the departure time would be postponed from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and that we would drive to Berlin Airport on the off chance.
