What a wonderful idea to spend the winter in the northern part of Crete Island in the city of Chania!
Most of the time during these three months we are blessed with mild winter days. Occasionally, a cold wind blows some rain clouds over the city from the sea.
We get to see snow from a distance high up in the "White Mountains - Lefka Ori".
Sometimes it is slightly chilly in our rented apartment here. We long for the hot days in Hungary.
We rarely explore the area within a 20km radius by bike. More often, we put on our running shoes and move slowly or a little faster through the streets and trails of the hills and valleys.
Through the wonderful crazy running group of Helen Galerakis from #creterunning, we connect with expats from many parts of Europe. It is nice to hear some stories and meet remarkable people. It is interesting to get insight into the world of expatriates here in Chania.
Thank you Helen for your contagious enthusiasm for long journeys and crazy ideas!
Thank you Lauri for the heater during freezing days!
The weeks pass by quickly. It feels good to lead a somewhat monotonous life consisting of little more than eating, running, and sleeping.
Variety will come naturally, at the latest in March.
In the last weeks of our first winter trip, we finally have a visit from home! Our friend Lisi immerses herself once again in the trails and streets of the area with us.
Thank you Lisi for looking after us! Thank you for many spices and your time!
Now we are really looking forward to moving on!
We are looking forward to our tent and cycling!
We are looking forward to a new continent and a new country!
The direction is set, the path is roughly planned.
