The surfers are back and we say goodbye, also to the very nice women of the Majestic Mansions in this very tastefully furnished house.
We fill our water bottles with the especially good water from Speight's (for free!!) and then we continue.
1st stop are the Boulders in Moreaki, which have been formed by the erosion of different layers of rock. We are lucky, it's low tide. And we also find many small shells that look like the Kauri shells - little treasures for home! After extensive admiration, we get hungry and follow the couple from Te Anau's tip to treat ourselves to something special, but preferably with a reservation! We still give it a try. The location of the restaurant is fantastic. It used to be an old whaling station. Even better, we only have to wait 30 minutes to get a table.
In the meantime, we go and watch seals. The anticipation grows. Inside, it's also very quaint and the people are super nice. A German woman serves us. She probably recognized or heard our nationality right away.
We each order a seafood chowder as an appetizer and then three kinds of fish with mussels and vegetables as the main course. It is perfectly natural here to share a portion. We also have a white wine called Momo. And we feast! Reinhard even manages to have an Algerian dessert - also delicious!! Then we take a photo from the balcony.
We continue, but only until we find a place for a midday nap. We stop in Oamaru and visit the surprisingly beautiful garden with a Victorian fountain and a beautiful sculpture with children and fairies and small animals, which a famous English sculptor dedicated to the children of Oamaru. Very charming. The nap under the big trees was also refreshing.
After shopping, we have to hurry and Reinhard presses the gas pedal. In Lucy's patch, we have a 4-room cottage with a view of the lake for ourselves. Super!!!
