Donnerstag, 23.01., Te Anau

Today we are heading to the 2nd stop in Te Anau. But before that, it will be exciting: Is my suitcase there and is everything okay???? Yes, indeed everything is fine and I am happy to have all my luggage now.

Let's go through wild landscapes, high mountains, jungle and extremely little traffic. We arrive in Te Anau in the afternoon. There is a note on the door for us with a warm welcome, everything is open and we don't need a key. We check into our 2nd accommodation: A huge room with a great view of the lake and the mountains.

Te Anau is a nice little town that we stroll through and even buy some souvenirs: a Kiwi t-shirt for all grandchildren and another 3 Kiwi kitchen towels! In a shop, we are approached by a German saleswoman and we quickly start a conversation. She has been here for 4 years because her daughter married a Kiwi. She likes it pretty well, even though the town is actually too small for her. She tells us that the previous summer was pretty bad with a lot of rain and extremely cool temperatures. It has only been nicer for a week now. We chat a little more, buy groceries for dinner again and enjoy the evening sun on our terrace with a delicious beer. We get to know our neighbors, a couple from Berlin and Braunschweig who have been traveling for quite a while and are also very satisfied with Travel Essence.
