Arrival in Porto

Tuesday, 05:30 am - after a short night, we finally start our journey to the airport 😃

After our dear Alex dropped us off at the airport, we treat ourselves to a coffee due to the early hour. Then it's time for check-in and I have a little déjà vu - the backpacks need to be checked as special baggage 😵 Since it worked so well last time, I'm completely relaxed about it 🙄🙏🏻

However, the journey is quickly told - nothing special and even the luggage arrived in Porto at the same time as us 👍🏻😊 So we take the metro to the city center and from the station we are in our hotel in just a few minutes, where our room is already ready for us.

In Porto, I've never had such beautiful weather and such warm temperatures, making the city even more beautiful. So we quickly put on our shorts and head into the city, where we first enjoy a large ice cream with a macaron filled with ice cream as topping at my favorite ice cream parlor - simply wonderful 😋🍦😋🍦 Then we walk over the Ponte Dom Luis to the other side of the Douro River for a Port wine tasting! Or so we thought... 😕 The tastings, which were still possible in September, are no longer available and we have to make our way back empty-handed 😤 But there is no shortage of nice bars here, so we treat ourselves to two incredibly delicious drinks in the shade of a bar, which are quite strong, especially since we haven't eaten much today 🙈🤫

For dinner, we visit a small restaurant with Portuguese cuisine and it tastes simply wonderful! The tuna pate for the starter is so good that we have it again for dessert 🤩😅 On the way back to the hotel, we pause for a drink on the waterfront, watch the posing Instagram stars, admire strange tattoos, and slowly end the day...

So tomorrow we will start our first stage 🥾🎒🤞🏻 Breakfast is available from 07:30 am and then we want to get going right away!
