After a short night, because breakfast is only until 9:30 am, we dive into the culinary breakfast world of the Americans. Flakes, oatmeal, pancakes with syrup, bagels, toast, English muffins, honey, strawberry jam, Philadelphia, cinnamon rolls, Greek yogurt with blueberries and strawberries, oranges and bananas, as a warm highlight round scrambled egg slices, turkey burger slices, and poultry sticks.
Facts
Hawaii is an island chain in the Central Pacific. It includes 8 major islands (together the actual US state of Hawaii) and hundreds of small islands and reefs.
In 1778, the British captain James Cook discovered the island group.
Refreshed, today we go to the famous Waikiki beach. Pleasant 26.6 degrees water temperature and blue sky invite you to swim.
Facts
Waikiki (Hawaiian for spouting water) is located on the island of Ohua with the capital Honolulu.
In the mid-19th century, the Hawaiian royal family made Waikiki their summer residence. They learned to surf from private teachers. This led to the creation of the first small hotels in the south of the island in 1890. Over time, the swamps that dominated the hinterland were drained, and a huge tourist infrastructure with restaurants, bars, and shops was built.
The beach of Waikiki is the true celebrity of the neighborhood. The three-kilometer coastline is divided into eight different beach sections, each offering something for every type of vacationer.
This 3 km is enough for today's foot and calf muscle training, because that is quite exhausting. A nice side effect of running in the sand is that the calluses are also scraped off and you can save the cost of a pedicure. So three birds with one stone.
It's wonderful to wade through the water. However, we have to go back through the city,
passing by small shops and hotels, because you don't have to overdo the training and end up with no feet at all. Back at our beach section, a quick jump into the cool.... no, cool is the wrong adjective at 26.6 degrees, a quick jump into the water.
After our dinner at the Vietnamese restaurant (tip, if you ever come here (if you can reconcile it with your eco-conscience and our knowledge is not enough for you and you also like authentic Vietnamese cuisine) then definitely go to Pho Minh Thu at 478 Ena Rd, Honolulu, Oahu, HI 96815-1791. Really delicious.
But what was I going to tell you? Right. We had to hurry during dinner because to celebrate our sacrificial visit here, they are putting on a huge fireworks display just for us. Isn't that nice?
And so that we don't stand there all alone, they brought in a few more people.
It would have been nice to have a welcome glass of champagne and a flower necklace.
Speaking of flower necklaces. I'm really mega disappointed. In Magnum, on the Dream Ship, even in Juressic Park, all guests are greeted at the airport, in the hotel, and/or during performances with flower necklaces placed around their necks by hip-swinging hula dancers.
And us?????
