Yesterday I picked up Janina from the airport. Together we pitched our tent at a campsite in Reykjavik.
We had actually planned to go sightseeing today, but the weather spoiled our plans. Since it rained all day, we just had a quick look at Hallgrímskirkja and Rainbow Street before going to the Perlan Museum.
The museum was really great. First we went to the observation deck, from which we had a good overview of Reykjavik.
Then we were taken to a kind of large cinema hall, just in time for the Northern Lights show, where the history, mythology and science behind it were explained. It was really beautifully done.
After walking through the museum for a while, we came to the first indoor ice cave (according to the guide). It was -15 degrees inside and the cave was actually made of real ice and snow and was really great. There was even an ice throne that you could sit on.
The exit of the ice cave led to a glacier exhibition, which was also really cool and interactive.
This museum was really cool and we spent about four hours there in total.
After the museum we went shopping and looked for something to eat for dinner, as the campsite had a kitchen but no pots. In the end we had canned pasta that took five minutes to cook, but it was really tasty.
See you then
