Patience

Tuesday, January 11, 22 - Patience is currently required. For days now, we have been planning our trip within Chile. We have already spent many hours on it, especially Martin. Since we need a car in Chile because of the distances, we tried to get one online. Initially, everything was unsuccessful, but now it seems to work. And we also have to take care of accommodations. We have already made contact with some members of the congregation and friends. In addition, everything is very complicated because of Corona. Whether and when which test, which entry forms... Since our visa is only valid until February 10th, we definitely have to leave the country. Since the internet is sometimes so slow or crashes, the processes are also interrupted, and you start again from the beginning. Today alone, Martin has been sitting at the computer for over 2 hours to complete the bookings.

In the evenings while watching TV, our patience is sometimes tested as well. Yesterday, the film was interrupted about every minute because the internet was too weak. Another situation is shopping. There are many employees standing around in every store, but that doesn't mean they can give you information. Yesterday, we were in a large shopping mall and also found a parking space in the underground car park. But after our shopping, we couldn't find the space anymore and had to ask around. There were no signs either. And the people had no idea either, but always showed us some way. Finally, we found the car though. Now we just had to find the exit, which was also not easy. Shopping was really fun; the shopping mile was also very European.

Meanwhile, we have proper summer here, and I start the day with a swim in the pool. We only need a sheet to sleep. When we arrived here 8.5 weeks ago, I slept with 2 blankets and a hot water bottle. We are still doing very well here, and we are so happy and grateful that we could exchange the apartment for this house, even if it involves a lot of work.
