Beach and diving in Nha Trang and lanterns in Hoi An

Апублікавана: 05.05.2019

So a lot has happened recently and of course we are no longer in Dalat...

You know that: You don't have time for anything on vacation ;-) So here you can see the impressions from the coastal city of Nha Trang and from the lantern city of Hoi An together in a blog.

The bus ride from the mountains down to the beach was already impressive - especially everywhere you could see the results of large rock or boulder falls... We were relieved when the terrain became flatter ;-)

We went over the so-called Cloud Pass early in the morning towards Nha Trang

In Nha Trang, the holidays were even more noticeable: Thousands of people!!! After checking in, we headed straight for the water and could also see here that the place is a hot spot for Russians and Chinese...

Uff... the beach was super crowded, but the clear water still invited us to swim =)

And on top of the Russians and Chinese, there were also all the Vietnamese who came to the city because of the holiday...

The preparations and construction work for the National Day were in full swing and, unlike in Germany, nothing is cordoned off. Man and woman simply run across.

On the first evening, there was also the dress rehearsal and you could tell that they were going all out here!

Coincidentally, we stumbled into the dress rehearsal for the National Day celebration

Unfortunately, Thea was still not completely healthy, so Clem went diving alone the next day - the first time on vacation!

He really liked it, but every night we saw more big fish, moray eels (!), mussels, crabs, etc. in the restaurants than Clem underwater... :-(

Of course, we also went swimming in the sea, which was very pleasant despite the crowded beach and the water was surprisingly clear <3

After another day of planning, we continued north with a night train. Next stop: Da Nang! From here we took a local bus to Hoi An over a great dragon bridge! One hour bus ride for 1 euro - fantastic. :-D

The dragon of the bridge - we later learned - even spits fire in the evening... So cool - but unfortunately we found out too late....

After a long walk in the morning at half past 7 from the bus station to the hostel in around 35 degrees ('oh come on Clem, we can also walk that short distance') we treated ourselves to a nice breakfast! :-)

After taking the bus from Da Nang to Hoi An, Thea suggested walking the

After that, sightseeing was on the program: We looked at various temples and old houses, walked through the streets and were approached by hundreds of people asking if we wanted to buy this and that... It eventually became exhausting! The city is so touristy - we hadn't experienced that before!

In the evening, it became really beautiful with the lanterns! You can't deny that - really great atmosphere! Colorful lights everywhere - even on the water there were floating lights and illuminated boats...

The next morning we continued: back by bus to Da Nang and from there by train to Dong Hoi. The route first went along the coastline and was really beautiful with many lonely beaches, waterfalls where the children played, and lots of forest!

The last third passed through countless rice fields, which were either just harvested or the last stubble fields were being burned.

From Dong Hoi, we continued with a bus to Phong Nha - a national park with one of the largest caves in the world. We drove through rice fields, rice fields, and more rice fields... You could tell that Vietnam is one of the largest rice-growing areas.

We will be back soon from Phong Nha! Until then, we are still doing very well :-) We hope you too and wish you a nice weekend in advance!

Best regards, Thea & Clem

PS: Thanks Birgit for the quick feedback! We corrected it right away ;-)
