Autumn is here.
*Shivering* becomes the evening ritual.
We continue our journey from the southernmost point to Milford Sound.
Stopover = Invercargill. To my sweetheart's birthday 🎁 💋, we relaxed and warmed up what was frozen the night before. Spa came at just the right time, in dreary weather. After that, R2.0 drove us towards Te Anau where the anchor was dropped for the night. The next morning at 7:30 am, we departed on a guided tour. The fjords with their towering mountains and clear blue waters are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an absolute must on our journey across the island. We would have liked to take the route without a guide. However, more than 4 weeks ago heavy weather made the only existing road impassable, so all trips are now exclusively guided with a convoy of buses into the fjord. At 10 am, 12 pm, and 2 pm, an incredibly long line of cars is formed, allowed to enter and later leave again. Afterwards, we crossed the narrow waterways to the Tasman Sea and back by ship. It was breathtakingly beautiful.
We started our journey back to Te Anau with great impressions and settled in Lumsden for the night.
