Suddenly 50 and you realize you haven't seen much of the world. And waiting until retirement - no thanks, why would you.
So, a new motto for life - fly away at least once a year and hike as often as possible, on routes you've never been before.
After using travel blogs for my travel planning, I decided, after over 3 years of intensive traveling, to not only mooch off others, but also to write a travel blog and share experiences, failures, mishaps, and tips.
The first trip was with my daughter to London - it was very nice, although exhausting, so shortly after a hospital stay...but you don't treat yourself to anything else - I finally wanted to follow through on a resolution. In London, we naturally aimed for all the infamous sights - the Tower, Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Borough Market, the British Museum...
The next year Amsterdam came with a friend....and because it was so great, another year later. In Amsterdam you can do so much, travel around with the tram, explore everything on foot (you always end up in the Red Light District), go to the markets - the Dappermarkt is culinary great, the Albert Cuyp for fabric enthusiasts. You have to watch out for the cyclists, they will run you over mercilessly....and the crowds...insane. A boat tour is highly recommended for foot relief, best on the pancake boat - you can eat as many pancakes as you want until you burst.... and then many more trips, of which I will report a bit here....you are welcome to send me questions...
