As so often, quite late, we started Tuesday afternoon heading south. On the way, the route took us through the Central Valley, a barren and vast plain separated from the ocean by a mountain range and mainly used for agriculture. Impressive and monotonous at the same time.
On the way back, we wanted to experience the full California program, on the famous Highway 1, along the Pacific coast. That was the idea. Before that, we got burritos as provisions, made a detour to the promenade in Santa Cruz, and made a stop at the gas station. Finally, we reached the Big Sur coastal national park at 5pm. It was enough time for some dramatic photos at the famous Bixby Creek Bridge. Then followed a long night drive along the pitch-black ocean, well.
