Today, the stage from Zennor to Pendeen Watch was planned. After checking out of the hostel, we had breakfast in St Ives and then took the open-top double-decker bus Coast Liner to Zennor.
The path was rocky and steep up and down, but overall less 'difficult' than the previous day. However, it was still very challenging and we made slow progress. The narrow paths led through the fern, which was humid and stuffy due to the lack of wind.
We could tell that we were entering a mining area again. The first chimneys, dilapidated and old mining buildings, and signs of old mine shafts appeared.
We passed Gurnard's Head and were curious about what awaited us beyond. At the final point, we could already catch a glimpse of the Pendeen lighthouse. We finally had our pasty as lunch on a magnificent rock.
Finally, the clouds had cleared and everything looked even more beautiful... 😍
And then came the cows... We often walk through pastureland. Usually, the animals are further away and not really interested. But this herd of cows had taken over the path, which was also very muddy. A man who was coming towards us had reminded us not to walk between cows and their calves. It was exciting.
A glance at the clock and a quick listen later, we realized that we had been defeated and so we walked inland to the next village, Morvah.
We took a ride to Pendeen with three nice French people. We can highly recommend the pub North Inn. And Rattler as well.
Tomorrow, we will meet the Mortons from the exchange with Kingsbridge while hiking. I'm looking forward to it. 🤗
