The first two tournaments are over and it was a bit of a difficult start to the season for everyone involved. The memories of the start of last year came back. After a long break without competition, the girls have to find their way back into the game. While all the other teams have been training intensively over the last few months, the girls have received little external input during the time Michel was away and even since he has been back, the intensity of training has only changed temporarily. It's really difficult to change these habits (e.g. Christmas dinner). So, pretty much everyone starts from scratch in the new year and the tournaments had to be used to get back into the game.
Michel was in Cambodia and Thailand with 2 teams. The top team Miller and Tini as well as the junior team Loti and Bella.
Despite the difficult start, Michel is confident for the upcoming Australian tournaments in Manly (Sydney). Two more players travelled for these tournaments. Lynn with her baby Terry and another junior player named Chantal. Lynn used to play with Miller and achieved many good results (3rd place Commonwealth Games). Now it's her first tournament after giving birth to her son in August. Chantal played with Bella at the U19 Championship and Lynn played with Tini in the main tournament.
Milla and Loti flew home to their children. I saved Michel this journey and simply flew with Pepe to Manly. Since I was traveling with Lynn, Chantal, and Debbie, there were no worries and everything went well. The reunion with Papa was great.
Before our time in Sydney, Pepe and I spent almost 2 1/2 weeks alone. Everything went really well there too. Unfortunately, the nights have again developed in the wrong direction, but at the moment with temperatures of 38-40 degrees Celsius, the nightly weaning has simply taken a back seat 😉
So we fought through the nights and enjoyed it during the day when Pepe was super happy, laughing a lot, splashing in the pool, and occasionally sucking on a banana or potato.
In Sydney, we have now started with Pepe's dinner. We will write about why and what else happened in the next report very soon.
