Wearing a skirt

At the Shwedagon Pagoda, one is only allowed to wear a skirt (longyi) and be barefoot. I'm already barefoot, but I don't have a longyi yet. So, let's go to the market and do some shopping. That's what I thought on this Thursday morning. We took a right-hand drive taxi to the 'Auch San' market for thousands of kyats (a few euros). Here you can find everything a tourist needs, flip flops, sunglasses, jewelry, longyis, and more.

The challenge is to wrap the tube-like skirt with a standard size of 2x1m in such a way that it doesn't slip off, not that easy.
In a shop, a mobile food delivery person arrived. A woman carried a bowl on her head. Inside were a few breads and cans. Upon request, the shopkeeper spread a garlic paste or something similar on one or two pastries.

Our two offspring attracted more attention here than in China. Especially our little blonde Jule was often touched. Here at the market, they occasionally mingled with some Burmese.

We spent the morning walking to the 'Bandoola Park' and the Independence Monument.

We passed by our first pagoda, the 'Sule Pagoda'. Very impressive, but nothing compared to what we would see in the afternoon!
