History and Tacos

Nəşr edilmişdir: 19.12.2019

So, my dears, I arrived in Monterrey safely. After 28 hours 🙄, of course, my flight was delayed, but everything worked out in the end.

I was also able to sleep relatively long. They are so sweet here and they made me my own room 😁

Today, we walked through the old town (Barrio Antiguo), there used to be drug gang wars here until a few years ago, as you can see from the bullet holes in the picture of the purple café. However, about 3 or 4 years ago, some restaurants and bars settled here again, there are no more clubs, and now it is a diverse and beautiful neighborhood with various gastronomic and musical options.

Afterwards, we visited the Museum of Mexican History and I learned a lot about the Aztecs and Mayas, as well as about the colonial period and the subsequent independence, revolutions, and the development up to the present day. I also didn't know that the Tlaxcaltecas fought alongside the Spanish against the Aztecs. It's really a pity that the knowledge of these highly advanced cultures was destroyed. The museum is beautifully designed, with much more care than German museums.

This morning, we had tacos for breakfast, they were delicious! The salsas were not nearly as spicy as expected and the taco with chili and cheese was still quite tolerable. At least for me. My cousin Nico apparently can't handle as much spiciness as I can. 😁

Later, we had tacos again in a restaurant filled with fried chicken and octopus, so it might be possible that I come back with a few extra pounds 😂

We're going to a craft beer pub soon and then to the cinema at midnight.
