Today marks one month on the road. How quickly time has flown by. I wouldn't trade a second of this adventure!
The second month starts off on a relaxed note. I wake up in an oversized cozy bed. I enjoy the morning alone as my gracious host has already left for work at 7:00 am. I feel great, it couldn't be better 🙏😇
Today, I plan to bike a distance of 60 km. I have chosen a shelter camp near Horsens.
My app leads me through pure nature until Vejle, through vast fields and short stretches of forest. Once again, there are ups and downs, but I won't give up. I conquer even the longest uphill without getting off the bike 💪
In Vejle, the navigation instructs me to turn right into a park from the main road. I am surprised when suddenly I find myself on a steep gravel path in the middle of the woods. Slowly, I balance my vehicle down the path. At the end of the path, I arrive in a beautiful city park. I have completed half the journey and think I deserve a break. And what better place than the harbor? Yes, this is a nice spot.
From Vejle, I mostly follow the secondary route 170. I make good progress here, with much less climbing.
Arriving in Horsens, I still have 6 km to go to reach the shelter camp. The weather has been favorable today. The wind was much calmer than the previous day, and there was no more rain. The gray clouds in the sky passed by every time, sparing me. But it's not evening yet, and the goal is not yet reached 😌 Now, it starts to rain steadily. There's no point in waiting for the end. So, eyes open and keep going 🙊
Finally, I find the hidden entrance to the camp: Rold Skov... I'm in the right place 🙏😇 Soaking wet, I slowly ride through the forest, not wanting to miss anything. I come across a lake that is quite dirty, just like the picture I found on the internet. But where are the cabins? I won't give up. I will find them. Suddenly, I have a revelation. There's a narrow path that splits from the main trail... I'll go that way. Maybe I'll get lucky. And I start cheering... there's actually a wooden cabin. And not a soul in sight. Yes, this is my accommodation for tonight. I settle in comfortably and spend some time looking at the lake just a few meters away. All is well 😇🙏😊
