Clear, Cambodia somehow means Ankor Wat. Obligatory program you might think, and so we included it in the route as well. Siem Reap is the starting point of the tour and accordingly crowded. Still nice.

As I said, we were now on the road as a group of four, rented bicycles once again in the early morning, went to the ticket counter six kilometers away at five o'clock, then rode another six kilometers to the entrance and saw the breathtaking temple scenery at sunrise. (Already slightly out of breath - it's also not cool in the morning...) The sun rises behind the main temple in a mystical and colorful way. You are not alone at such a famous place at such an early hour, but it's worth it.

Then we embarked on the classic tour through the various temple complexes. You can see great facilities and ruins. Each one is slightly different, also because of the various cultural influences and different construction periods. If you imagine that much of it was buried under the jungle for a long time and still looks like this even after the excavations - madness... Overall, it is difficult to grasp what different Khmer and Hindu directions built there 1000 years ago.

After the sunrise, we took it a little easier and it got hotter and hotter, the breaks got longer, but eventually we made it back to Siem Reap, but we all got a little sunburned 😊

As I said, the city is okay, you can stroll through the markets and eat well. After a few beers in the evening, the guys (Fahid and Daniel) spontaneously came up with the idea of trying out the local delicacies at the night market. There was a great selection, from snake to cockroach to cricket and frog. In the end, we settled for tarantula and grasshopper... a true delicacy 😉
