Friends of the sun,
welcome back. I have 'only' 25 posts left until I am back in the present. So, I am slowly catching up - my deadline is early December, as I will be going on another exploration trip to the northern part of the island for 2 weeks.
Currently, however, I am still with the stories from the west coast. One story here was my visit to the 3 Sisters and the Elephant Rock. I headed to this beach on the same day I explored the downtown area of New Plymouth. After a very nice conversation with a shop owner, I was advised to go at low tide and also to venture out without shoes, so I made my way to the beach.
Upon arrival, I understood what the lady from the alternative shop meant, as the path to the beach was a pure mud paradise. I grabbed my backpack and joyfully strolled through the mud, almost falling on my face only twice.
Once I reached the beach, I wandered slowly and enjoyed the fantastic view. There were not many people around as well - I encountered 5 others, and they left shortly after I arrived. A wonderful and very peaceful place, and I let the pictures speak for themselves:
What a great day and a really good mix between city and beach. After I had a few nice conversations with other travelers and recommended them that white sneakers were not the best idea for this trip, I then drove on to my next campground, as I decided to do the East Coast immediately after the West Coast, since it is not that quick to reach from my new workplace and therefore I drove a longer route after the beach. Up to the southern end of Lake Taupo.
More about this and my further journey in the next post.
