Today was the final day. at least, regarding the primary goal of our tour, namely the island of Usedom. We set off from Anklam in glorious sunshine and blue skies. Unfortunately, the route occasionally ran parallel to the main road, which was very busy with arrival and departure traffic. Wherever possible, we avoided it. One of these detours was marked as closed. Nevertheless, we drove it and were able to ride completely car-free on a freshly paved asphalt road without any problems. The speculation that no work would be done on Sundays had paid off. By noon, we reached Ahlbeck after 1118 km. There was quite a bit of activity here, but everything was manageable. The last 25 km to our accommodation in Zempin led directly along the coast behind the dune. So we were actually prepared for an easy path, especially since the wind finally came from behind. Unfortunately, we were completely wrong here, as the path went up and down multiple times and we had to conquer the steepest incline of the entire tour (16%). After checking in to our accommodation, where we will stay for the next two nights, we packed our things and went straight to the Baltic Sea beach to take a swim. With the arrival of Usedom, our actual tour is over. Tomorrow, we will explore the island a bit more before driving in two stages to Stralsund, where the train back to Cologne is already booked.
