Greenwell Farm in Kealakekua
Kona coffee is considered one of the best coffee varieties in the world. Therefore, the price is very high, you pay about €10 for about 100g. There are no limits to the top. It depends on the type of coffee beans. Today we saw prices at the coffee plantation that made our head spin. 2kg of coffee beans cost 164 USD. I bought a small 220g bag as a souvenir to take home. Here we also drink Kona coffee. The bag with 220g cost 14 USD (12 €) at the supermarket. That's the cheapest. The farm is about 10km from our apartment. There are a total of 700 farms here. This one is slightly higher up and it rains very frequently there. Our tour guide said, that makes the coffee so happy. We visited the farm in pouring rain, while the sun was shining down by the coast. We were allowed to taste different varieties of freshly brewed coffee. Meanwhile, Mick was looking for the farm's mascot - a chameleon - in the orange tree. Unfortunately, it was too well camouflaged. :)
