Facing the sun

We took off at around 10 o'clock with a slight delay. Nevertheless, we arrived in Cancun on time with just over 10 hours of flight time instead of the original 12.15 hours.

By the way, the airline planned only 2!!! meals for the 12-hour flight, a warm meal and a small snack shortly before landing. Clearly not enough, if you ask me (Leonie), so we prepared ourselves well in advance with snacks of all kinds to minimize the risk of being hungry and in a bad mood (see photo).

After penetrating the first thick layer of clouds, we finally saw the sun again after what felt like an eternity, which accompanied us throughout the entire flight.

In Cancun at the airport, we had to wait about 90 minutes for our passports to be checked. The officials were very thorough and asked each one for the duration of our stay and address. After collecting our luggage, we continued to the hotel by bus and then by taxi.

During the taxi ride, we had our first 'bargaining experience'. After initially 500 pesos (about 20€), we agreed on 300 and ultimately paid only 200.

As for the first dinner, it was, of course, Mexican. Roman tried the taco offering and Leonie chose a vegetarian burrito. Both were delicious and even the salsas were surprisingly mild.

After dinner, we were also exhausted from the day and went to bed at 9:30 PM.
