Tuscany 2017 - Day 8

Sleeping in, as we don't have to vacate the room on time because the K's are staying for another week. Big thanks to our dearest friends and the wonderful holidays we've had with you over the years. Grazie mille!

Long breakfast, the lawn is mowed and trimmed and we leave on time at 11:00 a.m., 26 °C, odometer reading 140,457 km.

We drive the figure eight at Montopoli once more so that we can get onto the Fi-Pi-Li. We have barely got onto the Mi-Na in Florence when we are stuck in a traffic jam, with an outside temperature of 33°C. The stop-and-go traffic is slow until we reach the Panoramica. We use it to stop for fuel. The estimated arrival time is increasing and there seems to have been a serious accident in Austria near Vöcklamarkt. The arrival time when we left was 6:16 p.m., now it is temporarily 12:08 a.m. on Sunday!

We then choose the well-known Panoramica over the mountain again and are almost alone; the Tangenziale in Bologna is also unexpectedly almost empty (35 °C). The traffic is completely fluid, even in Venice (36 °C) and at the caretaker's beach we make rapid progress.

In Udine we drive to the shopping center "Fiera", which is very difficult, first there is no parking space, then one in the blazing sun. So we only buy the bare essentials and then head home.

Toll station, border and the accident site in Vöcklamarkt: everything is clear and so at 7 p.m. we are at the stables to greet the horses and at half past seven we are finally home: Hello darling!
