Last night, I really didn't feel like going out to eat anywhere. I preferred the salad from the supermarket and went to my room. I can often enjoy that more than sitting somewhere among strangers. Taking a break is important to me. Annika wrote to me that she's not feeling well. Vomiting and diarrhea, poor thing. There are really many people who get sick on this journey. She made the decision to walk this morning. There was a proper thunderstorm overnight, which also provided a bit of cooling. It was still 32 degrees in the room.
This morning at 6:30, I left the house and met Annika at 7:30. She wanted to try walking, but she was still not feeling very good.
Today, the route led to the Nevegal, the last mountain before the Venetian plain. Here we want to take in the mountain air one last time before the big descent into the wide plain begins. More precisely, we went to Col Visentin, the highest peak of Nevegal. We walked slowly. For a while, we walked along the road until finally we reached a hiking trail. After 13 km, we reached the first snack station. Finally, Cola for Annika, she was really looking forward to it. Lemon and ice cream were also included. 😊. She fought bravely, I could tell she was struggling. We took another short break at the nice Malga Col Toront. Even from here, there was a great panorama.
After some more elevation gain, we reached the ridge of the summit, from where we looked down to the left towards Lago Morto and the last chains of hills in the southern pre-Alps. On the right, the plain around Belluno with Schiara in the background.
The stage destination, well studded with many antennas on the transmission mast, visible from afar. It doesn't look nice, but that was clear. The hut itself, very rustic or in other words, a grumpy shack. But what's the use, take it as it comes, it has always been my credo 😅.
