Today was an emotional day. First, we took the subway to the 9/11 Memorial. It is truly a deeply moving place. We couldn't go to the museum right away, as we had to make a reservation. From there, we wanted to walk to the Brooklyn Bridge, but a downpour forced us to seek shelter in the nearest shopping mall. On the top floor, there was an 'Eataly', a paradise for Italian products. What a cool surprise! They had everything an Italian heart desires, far away from home. Zoe didn't want to leave.... So we had pizza for breakfast and we were blissful 😊 After that, we joined the crowd crossing the Brooklyn Bridge to the Dumbo neighborhood. Everything was incredibly beautiful – we didn't want to leave, but we had booked the 9/11 Museum for 1 PM. We stayed in the museum for over 2 hours – and we often fought back tears. In a somber mood, we walked to the Oculus train station, which lifted our spirits and mood.
We strolled through the Tribeca neighborhood, passed Chinatown, and arrived at Little Italy. Saturday afternoon - it was buzzing! There were long lines outside many stores just to get in. Zoe was thrilled to find a Chinese lady selling knockoff handbags at an abandoned entrance – no waiting required 😉 We quickly went back to the hotel, freshened up, and then walked a few streets to see the Lion King musical. Unfortunately, we only had time for pretzels and margaritas in the foyer, there was no time for dinner. As expected, the musical was overwhelming – you're never too old for such things. We crossed Times Square, which is always busy, and thankfully, we reached the hotel in a few moments and fell exhausted into bed.

A day full of emotions. First, we took the underground to the 9/11 memorial. It is a deeply touching place. We couldn't go directly into the museum, as one has to make a booking beforehand. So we decided to walk towards the Brooklyn bridge but sudden heavy rain forced us to enter the next shopping mall. On the top floor, there was an “Eataly”, a market overflowing with high-quality products from Italy. What a surprise! Anything an Italian heart is wishing for when far away from home. Zoe didn't want to leave anymore… we had pizza for breakfast and were rather chuffed 😊 Thereafter we joined the mass exodus over the Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo District. A beautiful area we didn't want to leave. But we booked the 9/11 museum for 1 pm so we returned. We stayed in the museum for over 2 hours and fought back the tears. Heavy-hearted, we walked out of the museum where the Oculus Train station lifted our hearts and eyes. We strolled through the Tribeca Neighborhood, passed Chinatown to little Italy. Saturday afternoon – it was buzzing. There were long queues at nearly all the shops. Zoe was rather thrilled when she spotted a Chinese sister selling copycat handbags in a hidden entrance. After dealing and wheeling we quickly got to the hotel, refreshed, and walked to the Lion King Musical. There was no time for Dinner, so the Pretzels and Margarita at the Foyer had to suffice. The musical was breathtaking – one is never too old for such things. Time Square was bustling as ever when we came out from the musical, thank God the hotel is really nearby, so that we could fall exhausted into bed a few moments later.
