18th Day - day 18 (for English scroll down)

Uñt’ayata: 24.04.2022

Big cinema, baby! The day began with Gisela/Horst and Rocky Balboa already there as I peeled my morning mango. Then I woke up the marmot from hibernation and off we went, heading to the east of the island. The goal was the Farmers Market in the charmingly run-down Hilo. It is the most important city on the east coast. John, the landlord, had told us that there is something like the Rio Carnival or Chalanda Marz from Engadin, but in Hawaiian. All the hula schools give their best at a competition. Tickets are sold out a year in advance, the event is shown nationwide on television, and the winners are then crowned. The grand finale is the parade through Hilo. And yes, baby, we were there! OK, it was pure coincidence, but the surprise and joy were all the greater. I think all the clubs on Big Island were allowed to participate as well. The first ones we saw were a long truck with retirees singing the gospel song "Oh Happy Day" at the top of their lungs! What a great way to start. I have no idea how they got those elders up there, but they gave it their all, and I'm not sure if some of them survived until the end 😉 Then came all sorts of "Miss" winners, the nursing association was tragically understaffed, but the scouts were on point! Then came a very special float with incredibly graceful and graceful hula dancers. The float was full of flowers, the dancers beautifully decorated, the music incredibly harmonious, and if you had tied a cup of cream to the dancers' hips, it would have turned to whipped cream in no time! It was a dream. Quickly switch from photo to video on my mobile phone and save the whole thing for eternity - it was so beautiful, words couldn't really describe it. Overjoyed, we then went to the Farmers Market, bought ginger lemonade and banana bread - the best/fluffiest I've ever eaten. And then came the hammer blow. Quick glance at the video to make sure I had captured everything well - and drama, baby, drama! Somehow I managed not to press the video button, and when I wanted to stop the video, it started recording! I recorded 2 minutes of the inside of my pocket... I could have bitten myself in the ass. Sorry, not quite family-friendly - but it had to be said. Greetings to Antonio at this point 😊 We let ourselves drift through the streets of Hilo and were amazed at the many great organic/handmade/second-hand/art shops. The highlight of the day was a trip to the Akaka Falls, which are twice as high as Niagara Falls, but carry less water.

But my attention was drawn to Gucci influencer Susi - I'm only here to sell my expensive handbag with a discount code. 😊

Then a very special truck passed by with incredibly graceful and graceful hula dancers. Full of joy, we floated to the Farmers Market, bought ginger lemonade and banana bread - the best/fluffiest I've ever had. And then catastrophe struck. I quickly checked the video to make sure everything was recorded properly, and - drama, baby, drama! Somehow, I managed not to press the video button, so when I wanted to turn it off, it started recording! I recorded 2 minutes of the inside of my pocket... F****. Sorry, not suitable for children - but I couldn't help it. Regards to Antonio 😊. We floated through the streets of Hilo and were impressed by the many great organic/handmade/second-hand/art shops.
