Floating Market and Fisher Island in the Mekong Delta

We had a really great day on the Mekong River in Can Tho! Early in the morning, we took a small boat to visit a floating market, where fruits, vegetables, and some household items are sold on boats that look like pirates. We also visited a small factory where we watched the production of rice noodles. After that, we took a slightly larger ship to an island in the river, where the residents make a living from fish farming and agriculture. A Vietnamese woman who grew up on the island showed us around and showed us the fish farms, where they breed fish for sale and also protect endangered species. We visited her family, ate a lot of local food, and learned a lot about the culture of the people.
