New Year, New Paths

Uñt’ayata: 15.01.2022

After a little winter break, today is the first post of the new year!

After spending Christmas and New Year with my loved ones back home, I have been in Spain for almost 2 weeks now. :)

At first, I was plagued by a few exhausting days with a cold on the bus, but even this time had something good. They were days where I became even more aware that I have 'traveled out' for the time being and the desire for peace, routine, and somewhere to settle becomes greater.

Granada is my station for the next 2 weeks. Here I am enjoying my Airbnb apartment in the middle of the Albayzin district. Surrounded by historic alleys with many cozy restaurants and small shops, where Andalusian life pulsates.

In the morning, I catch the first rays of sunshine with a cup of tea on the terrace overlooking the bell tower of the Iglesia San Bartolomé, before getting down to work. In the afternoon or evening, I go on a discovery tour, for example, to one of the many viewpoints with a view of the beautiful city and the impressive Alhambra.

During these days, I meet many like-minded people and it feels good to build a social circle. Adam from the USA, whom I got to know while working in the coffee shop. Izzy and Bronagh, an Irish-Canadian couple who are also in Granada for a few weeks. And Simo, the Moroccan man from the spice shop.

I am grateful for every new day and the unique experiences in this interesting city. :-)
