Côtes-d'Armor: From Cap d'Erquy to Saint-Brieuc

Uñt’ayata: 29.08.2020

Last night, a storm with torrential rain, thunder, and lightning kept us awake from time to time. In the morning, the worst was over, but it wasn't really nice. Nevertheless, we set off to explore the Côtes-d'Armor. We wanted to start with Cap d'Erquy, which is only a few kilometers from our campsite.

'Sand dunes, cliffs made of pink sandstone... The wild heath is adorned with changing colors, that's Cap d'Erquy,' so far so good...

We open the car door, let Triene out, walk a few meters, and get back in the car 😏

It's damn cold! An icy wind blows in our faces, and to top it off, it starts to rain! We didn't imagine it like this 😟

Yes, yes, we admit it gladly, and if you have been reading this travel blog for a while, you should know it, we are fair-weather people who like it warm! You can also call us frost poops or frost bumps, and we find the saying "there is no bad weather, only bad clothing" so totally ridiculous!!!

Since the beginning of our Europe trip, it feels like we're in a perpetual autumn (I haven't worn a bikini once, we have never, as usual on vacation, laid on the beach, and every evening the heating in the motorhome is running) and we're sorry, but the frustration is big and so you may have to endure that we also report on it in our travel report because anything else would be dishonest 🥴

And yes, we chose the route ourselves, and unfortunately, it now confirms why these are regions we haven't visited before, because in the European regions where we usually hang out, the weather is significantly better 🤪

So, now back to today 😉 So, at the beginning of our excursion today, we were already fed up, but we still moved on with the Smart and along the coast.

'Côtes-d'Armor: Where everything stands on the edge: Ar mor - in Breton, that means "by the sea." For several years now, the northern coastal department has been given the beautiful name Côtes-d'Armor. Over more than 1000 km, the coast presents a strong piece of nature: powerful cliffs, mighty rocks in all shapes and colors, exposed to the play of the tides and the wild surf.'

And so we saw dreamy coves and magnificent beaches again and again! Besides, there are infinitely many great walking paths & hiking trails here that one could explore. Really great 👍 Unfortunately, with an average of 16 °C, with an icy wind and occasional rain, it was only enough for us to admire and feel nostalgic 👎

Nevertheless, I took lots of photos and put together a small selection. Have fun with them if you like (by the way, I also noticed that the weather looks better in the photos than it was 🤔 but we hardly take photos in the rain, and of course, I pick out the most beautiful ones 😉)...

Oh, by the way, we went back to Cap d'Erquy (where we started) at the end of the route and took a walk there 😄

Tomorrow we're heading to Cap Fréhel 🤗

P.S.: Triene actually loves the weather, she's the only one who prefers it cool, and the wind doesn't bother her either (she just doesn't like the rain)
