Second time in Cape Town

Uñt’ayata: 14.09.2019

Day 2: Today we took a walking tour through the Bo-Kaap neighborhood (the one with the colorful houses). Since we couldn't or didn't want to hike up Lion's Head due to the bad weather, we found ourselves back in Bo-Kaap in the evening and attended a local cooking class. The food was culturally diverse and delicious :)

Day 3: The weather forecast looked good and a glimpse out of the window confirmed this. We first hiked the India Venster route up the famous Table Mountain. On our way up, we had to do some climbing and had the company of two native dassies (Google them, they are cute). After a picnic, we hiked down the Platteklip Gorge route (again with two dassies). Since that was not enough exercise, we also hiked up Lion's Head. Once we reached the top, we made ourselves comfortable and enjoyed the sunset with the company of Divertimento (they were filming something for Swiss TV). After descending in the dark, it was time to relax and good night.

Day 4: Today was diving day. The first dive was at Duiker Island, where a colony of Cape Fur Seals resides. The name 'underwater puppies' perfectly describes the playfulness of the seals. The second dive took us through a kelp forest with crabs, catsharks, and a cuttlefish.

Day 5: We took the tourist express to the southwestern (but not southernmost) point of Africa, the Cape of Good Hope. Here, in addition to wind, there are also baboons and antelopes. Afterwards, it was finally time to visit the penguin colony at Boulders Beach. In the evening, we met up with the travel group with whom we will be traveling towards Victoria Falls starting tomorrow for three weeks.
