Day 18, Uzes, Pont du Gard, Avignon

Today it's raining, all day long and really heavy rain. All the streets were flooded and driving was more like swimming. Nevertheless, we set off to Uzes as planned. We were already soaking wet when we arrived at the car from the hotel. Apart from the rain, Uzes was full of tour groups and we decided to continue on to Pont du Gard. There was even more water on the road here and our car decided to turn on the check engine light again. Since it was still about 20 minutes of forest road from the parking lot to the bridge and the rain had turned into a real storm, we quickly got back in the car here too. The next stop was Avignon. We were determined to at least see something of the city here. So we left the parking garage and ventured out into the rain. However, after both of us were completely soaked (after 100 meters of walking) and it was shortly after noon, we hid in the first restaurant we could find. From there, we wanted to book a sweet wellness hotel nearby, but with this weather, there was simply nothing else to do. The result was an 'American motel' in classic movie style. All rooms are on the ground floor or on the first floor, and parking is in the yard. Nevertheless, it was just right for us because there was a sauna, steam room, and pool. After dinner in buffet style, we could have a nightcap at the bar and play Pacman and Donkey Kong on old authentic arcade machines.
