The volcano

Uñt’ayata: 15.04.2024

Linchen wanted to go out for breakfast this morning, so we ate healthy stuff in a cute bakery. With a slight vitamin shock, we set off on our trail in perfect weather. Almost 5 km over lava fields, beautiful flora and fauna, various animals, very loud birds in the treetops and nonstop chattering birds from Spain right behind us.

After drinking a caramel latte in a prime location, we were able to see the summit/crater of the volcano. In 99% of cases, this is hidden in a layer of clouds. Jupiter, the Greek weather god, was on our side this time :)

After arriving at the car very sweaty, we drove straight to El Salto. A river with a small waterfall where the locals and tourists could jump over a lily into the water. Lina and I did that too, of course, it was fun. Afterwards we hung out at the pool for another 2 hours and booked our next accommodation.

In the evening we had a very good meal and drank huge cocktails. We went back to the barrel tipsy, full and happy. We didn't even try sleeping with the doors closed (because of the horrible humidity), but with the door open and the air conditioning on. Sorry about the environment, but otherwise it would be the second sleepless night for me.

We have now set up the barrel as an open tent, so that it is bearable. Strangers can also look at the magnificent body in the nude, but who cares.... Tomorrow we are "unfortunately" allowed to leave the barrel. A lot awaits us, hopefully we have okay weather (the locals say about the weather: there are seasons, a lot of rain and little rain). But we'll make the best of it either way 😊
