The festival in Ho

Uñt’ayata: 23.09.2018

Honestly, I still don't know what kind of festival it is, but it was nice.

You can't imagine it as a festival in Germany, where you get drunk from morning till evening and listen to music in between.

In Ghana, festivals are like public celebrations, where all kinds of important people gather and celebrate something together.

(They celebrated a vegetable here, if I understood correctly)

We spent the weekend with Hilda, the daughter of our host parents.

In the evening, she invited us to have dinner with her.

Turned out, the dinner was a 15th anniversary celebration of the president of all the chiefs in Ghana.

(Chief is something like a tribal elder)

I wasn't prepared for that, so I was a bit overdressed for the high society of Ghana in my short sweatpants, fanny pack, and flip flops.
