After a last big daily stage with hills at the beginning and nice bicycle paths at the end I could see the skyline of Liverpool on the other side of the water. I took the ferry over and cycled to the hostel where I was booked in for 2 nights. My first impression of the city was very good and it has been confirmed when I had time to do some sightseeing the next day. In my room I met Simone from Switzerland and we got along well straight away. I did my washing in the morning and than I catched up with her in the city. We walked around the city centre, Bolt Street, Mathew Street with the cavern club (Beatles) and to the Albert dock. I really like the mix of historic, 19/20th century and modern architecture. I enjoyed having dinner and a beer in the pub accompanied. Thank you, Simone, for the time we had together.
The next day I continued cycling up north. I passed Southport and reached Preston which is quite nice with a huge Riverside park and nice centre. Since there was no real alternative, I spend the night in a cheap hotel.
