After I finally found a warm bed for the next night, I cycled towards my destination in a good mood. The village where I was staying was very small (400 inhabitants) and completely deserted. On the rather unpromising search for a shop or restaurant, I actually found a restaurant/café/bar/shop in one. Run by an architect from Guatemala, the only guest was an elderly Scotsman who lives mostly in France, organizes luxury cruises for the royal family to the Hebrides, is a successor to the Campbell family (famous whiskey distillery) and has a Venetian niece who is renovating the English palace. What? And I thought it was going to be a really boring evening in this village. It was a lot of fun and after a few drinks I walked to my accommodation with a flashlight, as there are no street lamps there.
The next day we took a very idyllic route along the Loire with a detour via Nevers, where there were also some very impressive buildings to see.
