Bon Camino!

Uñt’ayata: 27.01.2019

Last night I fell into bed at 7.30 pm. The journey and the first tour in one day were really intense when looking back! At 8.30 pm, according to my fitness tracker, I was already in dreamland. I slept through until 6.50 am, so about 10 hours of sleep. Perfect conditions for a great second day! I started this second tour at 7.50 am, but first made a detour to the Carmelite Monastery and enjoyed the sunrise there with a large cup of coffee for 85 cents (!!!). Wonderful! Today, for a change, I didn't follow the yellow signposts, but trusted my travel guide (attention, unpaid advertising) 'Outdoor, der Weg ist das Ziel' by Raimund Joos. He described the signposted route to Rates as very dangerous and suggested an alternative route. Since the signposting is very detailed, following the route against the directions (who actually paints all the yellow arrows all over the world :D) was no problem. After only 3 hours, I arrived at my destination for the day, Rates. There, I took an extensive break at 11.30 am and considered how to proceed. The hostel doesn't open until 2.30 pm and somehow I still have unused energy. However, the next village is a whopping 15 km away and I have already covered 15 km. Nevertheless, I set off towards Barcelos! Driven by German folk and hiking songs, greetings to my music teacher from secondary school (who knows why I have to listen to such music :D), I continued to move forward. It was only when there were 5 km left to Barcelos that my feet started to protest. Since I covered 32 km today, I treated myself to a private room in Barcelos. I navigated to it via Maps. Maps then tried to explain to me that I should take the highway because it's the fastest way. I didn't think it was a good idea and put together an alternative route. Exhausted, I arrived in Barcelos and was very satisfied with myself. CONCLUSION: 2nd day, 3rd stamp... it can continue like this :)
