In between, Duncan and I also take a little trip to Akaroa, about 1 hour from Christchurch. I was here for the first time in 2018 (back then I was also at the old cemetery), and last year briefly with Katha on a small boat tour. The settlement was founded by the French, hence the French street names and the lovely little houses. Especially in this wonderful weather, it is a beautiful area, and many houses also serve as summer residences or retirement homes, some with a magnificent view of the fjord. We get fish and chips, then an ice cream, a lovely day in a great environment.
