Old School

Back in Medellin (Envigado), a new chapter began for me as I returned to school to learn Spanish. It's quite unusual for me to go to school and learn like a child again. Languages were never my thing, learning Latin back then was a complete waste of time and energy, and now I have embarked on something new. Including the additional challenge of learning Spanish from English.

After two weeks, I can draw a positive conclusion. It was simply fun to meet new people again, and outside of school, there were fun events like playing Tejo or cruising through the night on the Chiva party bus.

We also explored outside of school. We went to Arvi Park, took a city walking tour, and went on a graffiti tour in Comuna 13, which until a few years ago was the most dangerous district in the most dangerous city in the world... and the tour was really interesting and personal! We also visited the 3 Cordilleras brewery, where the "tour" basically consisted of drinking beer and chatting for five minutes. 😃

On the weekend, I went to Santa Fe de Antioquia with Juli's parents, another small and colorful town. I have to mention that the sports promotion in Medellin is cool. Every Sunday, the (multiple lanes) main roads across the city are closed in one direction so that people can jog or bike there. And a lane is also closed to the airport so that thousands (!) can struggle up the hill. By car, this section takes about 45 minutes...

Other than that, I got to meet a few friends of Juli and her family, or I could see them again. At this point, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you, I felt very comfortable! And there were always such delicious fruits in the fridge. 🤤😂
