Farmlife in Tauranga

Uñt’ayata: 30.09.2016

Currently, I am living with my travel partner Isabella on a small farm between Katikati and Tauranga. Since it is in the middle of nowhere, we can't go anywhere on our own, so we spend the whole day with our host family. They are really nice and very relaxed (for example, we can sleep in - which we take full advantage of :D). We work here unpaid, only getting food and accommodation, but since we don't have a tax number yet and therefore can't work for pay anyway, it's a good way to save money. The mother sells flowers and vegetables in the summer, so we have to weed and plant flowers. In addition, our tasks include various small things that come up in a household: building a new bed for Oscar, weaving bracelets with Ella, cooking, feeding the lambs and the calf, and so on. Since we speak English with the family, I sometimes don't even realize that, for example, I'm watching a series in English. Unfortunately, we only have a few more days here, because we're already moving on on Tuesday. We don't know exactly where yet, but everything will work out fine! :)
