Without planning it, I happened to be in Amsterdam during the Canal Pride weekend. Of course, I wouldn't miss it and took the tram to the city for the Pride route, where many boats with celebrating people were already in the water.
It took a while for the first boats to come, but they were extraordinary. They were beautifully designed and also designed to fit under all the bridges. The highlight came right at the beginning with three people floating in the air with water jetpacks and performing various stunts.
After the parade, which lasted several hours, I chatted with two young women from the United Kingdom and two friends from the Netherlands. Together, we went to the other side of the canal, where a spontaneous party was happening.
However, we lost one of the Dutch friends and only found him after a long search and with the help of text messages and other complications. The two Dutch friends (Sara and Daan) then invited me to have spaghetti at Daan's house, and we took public transportation there.
On the way, we bought some ground beef and started cooking the noodles and sauce. In the end, it turned out to be really delicious, and we had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. Late in the evening, I went back to the hostel, where I was exhausted and went to bed.
