Curiosities Tuesday or Fail-Tuesday

Uñt’ayata: 18.07.2018

Since today was all about continuing our journey to Hawaii and strange things happened along the way, I will briefly report about them:

  • Recommended in the travel guide as a secret tip: the Rio hotel. It's a bit off the Strip but is supposed to convince with its Brazilian carnival theme 🤨 we didn't see anything of that and were not convinced at all 👎🏼
  • Lunch in a suburb of Las Vegas...a non-touristy restaurant and a rustic sports bar, but they had a whole page of vegan food on the menu 😂
  • Walking through Town Square (shopping stores mainly for locals and outdoors) at 46 degrees lets the credit card breathe, because it was too hot to think about shopping. We were more concerned about how to get to the fenced-in water playground that only allows entry for parents WITH children.
  • Arriving at the airport: found a grass area for dogs with a water hydrant for dog owners. So that the dogs can relieve themselves before the flight ➡️ see pictures under 🙈
  • Quote from Patrick during the flight with Hawaiian Airlines to Honolulu, I think that explains everything: "You fly to Hawaii and need a mulled wine on board!"
  • Siberian cold on this flight, had to buy a blanket for $10 because it was unbearably cold even with a sweater.
  • Arrival in paradise-like Hawaii 🌺☀️😃 ➡️RAIN 🌧😩
  • Conversation in the car on the way to our accommodation in Waikiki: Steffi: "Have you ever been stopped by the police here in the States?" Patrick: "No, never. I don't really want to, it would make me feel weird." 10 minutes later: 🚨🚓👮🏽‍♂️ the officers stopped us because our brake light wasn't on.
  • The accommodation is so small that we had to move the furniture at 11 p.m. just to make room for our suitcases.
  • Took a walk around the block to explore the area and bury our feet in the sand: 🐀🦗 that's all I'm going to say!

So, originally today was supposed to be a day at Waikiki Beach, but we're postponing it because the weather is ****ty. So we're heading to Pearl Harbor and downtown first, hoping that the afternoon will be suitable for swimming.

😂🙈 Regen würden wir hier gerne haben, aber nicht bei euch auf Hawaii. Wenn ihr wiederkommt sind wir hier ausgetrocknet. 😏 Lässt es euch gutgehen. 🙋🏻‍♀️💋
